1. The One Who Lifts Up My Head 4:50
Yahweh, how my adversaries have increased!
Many are those who rise up against me.
Many there are who say of my soul,
"There is no help for him in God."
But you, Yahweh, are a shield around me,
My glory, and the one who lifts up my head.
I cry to Yahweh with my voice,
And he answers me out of his holy hill.
I laid myself down and slept.
I awakened; for Yahweh sustains me.
I will not be afraid of tens of thousands of people,
Who have set themselves against me on every side.
Arise, Yahweh! Save me, my God!
For you have struck all of my enemies on the cheek bone.
You have broken the teeth of the wicked.
Salvation belongs to Yahweh.
Your blessing be on your people.
2. To Know Christ's Love Which Surpasses Knowledge 5:00
For this cause, I bow my knees,
To the Father of our Lord, Jesus Christ,
From whom every family in heaven,
And on earth is named.
That he would grant you,
According to the riches of his glory,
That you may be strengthened with power,
Through his Spirit in the inward man;
That Christ may dwell in your hearts,
Through faith; to the end that you,
Being rooted and grounded in love,
May be strengthened to comprehend,
With all the saints that is the breadth,
And length and height and depth,
And to know Christ's love which surpasses knowledge,
That you may be filled to all the fullness of God.
Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly,
Above all that we ask or think,
According to the power that works in us,
To him be the glory in the assembly,
And in Christ Jesus,
To all generations forever and ever.
Amen.
3. We Ourselves Are Comforted By God 5:50
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
The Father of mercies and God of all comfort;
Who comforts us is all our affliction,
That we may be able to comfort,
Those who are in any affliction,
Through the comfort with which,
We ourselves are comforted by God.
For as the sufferings of Christ abound to us,
Even so our comfort also abounds through Christ.
But if we are afflicted,
It is for your comfort and salvation.
If we are comforted, it is for your comfort,
Which works in the patient enduring,
Of the same sufferings which we also suffer.
Our hope for you is steadfast, knowing that,
Since you are partakers of the sufferings,
So also are you of the comfort.
For we don't desire to have you uninformed, brothers,
Concerning our affliction which happened to us in Asia,
That we were weighed down exceedingly,
Beyond our power, so much that we despaired even of life.
Yes, we ourselves have had,
The sentence of death within ourselves,
That we should not trust in ourselves,
But in God who raises the dead,
Who delivered us out of so great a death,
And does deliver; on whom we have set our hope,
That he will also still deliver us.
4. He Who Created The Heavens 5:17
Thus says God Yahweh,
He who created the heavens, and stretched them forth;
He who spread abroad the earth and that which comes out of it;
He who gives breath to the people on it,
And spirit to those who walk therein:
I, Yahweh, have called you in righteousness,
And will hold your hand, and will keep you,
And give you for a covenant of the people,
For a light of the Gentiles;
To open the blind eyes,
To bring out the prisoners from the dungeon,
And those who sit in darkness out of the prison-house.
I am Yahweh, that is my name;
And my glory will I not give to another,
Neither my praise to engraved images.
Behold, the former things have happened,
And new things do I declare.
Before they spring forth I tell you of them.
Sing to Yahweh a new song,
And his praise from the end of the earth;
You who go down to the sea,
And all that is therein, the isles,
And the inhabitants of it.
5. For God Is Not Unrighteous 5:12
For concerning those who were once enlightened,
And tasted of the heavenly gift,
And were made partakers of the Holy Spirit,
And tasted the good word of God,
And the powers of the age to come,
And then fell away,
It is impossible to renew them again to repentance;
Seeing they crucify the Son of God for themselves again,
And put him to open shame.
For the land which has drunk the rain,
That comes often on it,
And brings forth a crop suitable for them,
For whose sake it is also tilled,
Receives blessing from God;
But if it bears thorns and thistles,
It is rejected and near a curse,
Whose end is to be burned.
But, beloved, we are persuaded of better things for you,
And things that accompany salvation,
Though we speak like this,
For God is not unrighteous,
So as to forget your work and the labor of love,
Which you showed toward his name,
In that you served to the saints,
And still do serve them.
We desire that each one of you may show,
The same diligence to the fullness of hope,
Even to the end,
That you won't be sluggish,
But imitators of those who through faith and patience,
Inherited the promises.
6. Let Us Love One Another 5:18
You are of God, little children,
And have overcome them;
Because greater is he who is in you,
Than he who is in the world.
They are of the world.
Therefore they speak of the world,
And the world hears them.
We are of God.
He who knows God listens to us.
He who is not of God doesn't listen to us.
By this we know the spirit of truth,
And the spirit of error.
Beloved, let us love one another,
For love is of God;
And everyone who loves is born of God,
And knows God.
He who doesn't love doesn't know God,
For God is love.
By this was God's love revealed in us,
That God has sent his only born Son,
Into the world that we might live through him.
In this is love, not that we loved God,
But that he loved us, and sent his Son,
As the atoning sacrifice for our sins.
Beloved, if God loved us so,
We also ought to love one another.
